I recently spent the summer in Montreal, two busy months filled with work and family vacations, stays in cabins, a quick trip to Niagara Falls, and a week on the East Coast of the United States. One of the important questions before arriving in Montreal was how we would get around with five people all summer. For those familiar with the area, public transportation is very convenient but mainly for routine trips, not for grocery shopping or exploring the surroundings. Solution: rent a car
After a few hours of research with the major chains (Hertz, Avis), I quickly realized that it was going to cost almost as much as the flight! On average, $127.80 per day x 60 days, for a grand total of $7,668 for a subcompact car. It wasn't much cheaper to rent from smaller rental companies (Octane, etc.), which offer cars around $500 per week (for older models)
And that's when a light bulb went off: buy a car when arriving and sell it when leaving! Of course, I needed to make sure to find an inexpensive car that could be resold in a few days (maximum 3) at a not too low price compared to the purchase price. That's where CarSnatch came to the rescue! CarSnatch allowed me to find a car that perfectly met our needs at a price that beats all competition in the market. Here's my strategy:
if you're renting a car in Quebec for more than a few days, consider the quick buy/sell option by finding a deal on CarSnatch!
